How to build EIS/ELV NEC adapter for VVDI MB Tool

HaveEIS/ELVcable tester for your vvdi mb tool? Think it expensive? You can make EIS/ELV NEC adapter by yourself and save a lot.


For Mercedes W204 W212 W221 W164 W166, it’s necessary to have this adapter to use with the EIS ELV maintenance, Mercedes key programming and key detection.

Here are somediagrams for reference.
W164 / R251 / W221 / W216 with NEC inside
w203 / vito w639 with mcu HC908 inside
w203 with mcu hc912 inside
W204 / W207 / W212 with NEC inside

1. Attention: All user update device to firmware v2.0.5, software v2.0.5, the lower version dont support password calculation
2. Add password calculation for lost all key. Support W166, W246, W212, W212(old). After success find password, it will need pay 2 calculation times
3. Password calculation with working key support: add working key test before data acquisition
4. Add EIS status test, working key test function
5. Fix bug for OBD read W203, W639, W463(K) EIS
6. Autodetect W212 EIS with ELV

How to add MB BGA key with Xhorse VVDI MB BGA tool

This post shows how to use Xhorse VVDI MB BGA tool to add MB BGA key.
  1. Open VVDI MB BGA tool software.

  1. Choose type. Procedure: click "EIS Tools", then "Read EIS data", then choose chassis number "W166, 197,212,218,246" and Mode as "OBD".

  1. Calculate Password. Click "Password Calculation", then choose chassis number "W166, 197,212,218,246" and OBD mode, then click
"Data Acquisition" and you will get attention to insert "Working key" to "EIS", wait about 14 seconds, then get attention to insert "working key" to "Device IR reader", then insert "Working key" to "EIS" and insert "working key" to "Device IR reader", then wait 4 minutes, then insert "Working key" to "EIS" wait and insert "working key" to "Device IR reader".
Save the data, then acquisition finished, upload data with "Upload data" for password.

  1. Press "Query result" to get result. It will cost about 1 minute to calculate password, click "Copy" to get the key password copy to clipboard.

  1. Choose "EIS Tools", then "Save EIS data", then click "Paste" and the key password display shown as follows. Click "Save EIS data" and save again.

  1. Prepare Key File:
1) Load EIS file with password
2) Select key position for key file, select key file format. Press button "Prepare Key File".


  1. Read write key.
1) Click "Identification key", you see this is new key.

2)Click "Load key file", open "key6_F7CCD165_used_015"

3)  Click "Write" till you see writting success.

4) Then click "Identification key" to identify key information e.g. Key number is 8.

5) Test if key number 8 is working. Insert key into the car ignition.
Okay, add new MB key success.
